BEND, OREGON · USA ACOUSTIC GUITARS · 2026 PRODUCT RESET
Breedlove
Breedlove is in the middle of an unusually important catalog transition. Its current 2026 lineup is now built around Roots, Artisan and Collector series, and Breedlove says every current guitar is handmade and hand-voiced in Bend, Oregon. The used market, however, remains full of earlier Discovery, Pursuit, Rainforest, Organic, Oregon, American and other series. A new Breedlove and a used Breedlove may belong to completely different product systems.

OVERVIEW
What to know quickly
New Breedlove and used Breedlove are now two different catalog questions. Identify whether you are looking at the refreshed Bend-built lineup or one of the many earlier series before comparing price.
IDENTIFY YOUR GUITAR
Which Breedlove do you have?
The model/series name is especially important now because the current 2026 catalog is dramatically different from the Breedlove catalog many players remember. Older Discovery, Pursuit, Rainforest, Organic, Oregon, American and other families still dominate used listings.
- Find the exact series and model. Current Roots/Artisan/Collector codes and older Discovery/Pursuit/Oregon names belong to different production systems and price tiers.
- Photograph the soundhole label and serial number. Preserve every model, origin and production marking before searching.
- Identify the body shape. Concert, Dreadnought, Parlor and older Concertina/Concerto or specialty bodies should not be treated as equivalent.
- Record the electronics. Current Roots, Artisan and Collector instruments use different LR Baggs systems; older guitars used many other packages.
- Confirm country of manufacture from the instrument. Do not apply the current “all Bend-built” statement backward to older imported Breedlove series.
SERIES & CURRENT RETAIL GUIDE
The 2026 catalog is compact—and all Bend-built
Current Breedlove official catalog checked September 28, 2026. The current site listed 25 guitars across Roots, Artisan and Collector; historical series remain common at retailers and on the used market.
USED VALUE GUIDE
The used market still reflects the previous Breedlove universe
Guitar Center showed roughly 240 used Breedlove guitars in a late-September 2026 snapshot. Examples included Discovery and Pursuit instruments in the roughly $300–$600 range, older American/Oregon instruments around $900–$1,800 in several listings, and many other discontinued families. Those figures sit far below the $2,899 starting point of the refreshed current Roots line.
- Do not compare an older imported Discovery directly with a current Bend-built Roots simply because both say Breedlove.
- Check neck angle, saddle height, bridge adhesion, top shape and fret condition before valuing an acoustic.
- Verify whether electronics are original and working; pickup systems vary substantially by era.
- Confirm body shape and tonewood combination—the same series can contain materially different instruments.
- Use exact-era sold evidence; the 2025–2026 product reset weakens simple “percentage of current retail” shortcuts for older models.
CURRENT USED MARKET
Search the old series name first
For a used Breedlove, “Discovery Concert,” “Pursuit Exotic,” “Oregon Concert” or “American Series” is more useful than “Breedlove acoustic.” The 2026 lineup is small enough that older names now become strong era markers.
COMPARE
What else lives in this neighborhood?
The current Roots/Artisan/Collector line belongs in a premium USA-made acoustic comparison. Older imported Breedloves should instead be compared with instruments from their own original price and construction tier.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Before you buy—or price—one
- Catalog-era confusion. The 2026 all-Bend lineup should not be projected backward onto earlier Discovery, Pursuit, Rainforest or Organic instruments.
- Country-of-origin assumptions. Read the actual label; historical Breedlove production included both U.S. and imported series.
- Acoustic geometry. High action can come from relief, saddle setup, top movement or neck angle—diagnose before promising a simple adjustment.
- Electronics generations. Current LR Baggs systems are not evidence of what an older Breedlove originally carried.
- Price anchoring. A current $2,899 Roots starting point does not automatically raise the value of an older imported model.
HISTORY & COMMENTARY
Thirty-five years—and then a major reset
Breedlove traces its start to 1990, when Larry Breedlove, Steve Henderson and Terry Myers began building in Tumalo, Oregon. Tom Bedell acquired the company in 2010. In 2025, musician Pete Mroz and music-industry executive Shannon Pollard took ownership.
The ownership change matters directly to a buyer because the product structure changed with it. Breedlove’s current site now presents only Roots, Artisan and Collector guitars and says every current instrument is handmade and hand-voiced in Bend. That creates an unusually clean dividing line between the refreshed current catalog and the much broader historical used catalog.
WHAT PLAYERS LIKE
Why a Breedlove can be worth picking up
- Distinctive body ergonomics. Concert and related Breedlove shapes developed a recognizable feel long before the 2026 reset.
- Current Bend construction. Breedlove says every guitar in the refreshed line is handmade and hand-voiced in its Oregon custom shop.
- Useful used variety. Older Discovery, Pursuit, Oregon and other series give buyers many price points below the current line.
- Tonewood variety. Myrtlewood, rosewood, mahogany, spruce, cedar and other combinations appear across current and historical models.
- Clear current ladder. Roots, Artisan and Collector now make the new-guitar catalog unusually easy to understand.
CURRENT RETAIL & REFERENCE
Current catalog and used-market observations were checked September 28, 2026. Breedlove’s 2025–2026 transition makes exact series and production era unusually important.
